For All Jehovah's Witnesses [Former Or Current]!
(See Ecclesiastes 5:4-7)
“When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.”
“It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.”
“Let not your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake…”
“…God is the one you must fear.” — Ecclesiastes 5:4–7, ESV
“It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.”

Jehovah’s Witnesses make a public vow at baptism — a dedication to Jehovah through Christ, often phrased as “I dedicate myself to do God’s will as revealed by Jesus Christ and as understood by the faithful and discreet slave.”
This vow is not "cancelled" [because of the many sins of the WTS/GB [BTG] ... no it is not. Also, it is not to be viewed as "casual" ... in God's Eyes, either — it is a scroll oath, a binding covenant/contract. -- Think about it.
Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 warns:
Don’t delay in fulfilling your vow — Jehovah expects immediate obedience
Don’t claim it was a mistake — no “I didn’t know what I was doing” defense
Don’t let your mouth lead you into sin — careless words = covenant violation
God is not mocked — He will destroy the work of your hands if you break your vow
The Watchtower Society has redefined the vow — shifting it from a personal dedication to Jehovah to a pledge of loyalty to the organization. -- See 1985 June 1st Watchtower Magazine page 30, par. 3 & 4.
This violates the scroll principle of Ecclesiastes 5 — turning a sacred vow into a corporate allegiance.
Many JWs now say, “I didn’t know what I was vowing,” or “I was just a child” — but Ecclesiastes 5:6 says:
“Do not say before the messenger ... His Special "Messenger" [Modern Day "Servant" -- Isaiah 49:1-9] that it was a mistake.” (Malachi 3:1)
This is a scroll indictment — a warning that Jehovah (& Jesus Christ) will not excuse broken vows [or dedications] made in His Great Name. (See Psalms 83:18; Malachi 1:11)
Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 is a mirror held up to every baptized Jehovah's Witness [former or current].
It demands accountability, reverence, and fear of God, not organizational loyalty.
It aligns with Malachi 1:6–14, where Jehovah rebukes priests who offer defiled sacrifices — the modern equivalent being empty vows and institutionalized dedication.
... The vow was made. The scroll remembers.
